Fritz had been more than happy to relieve Autumn of her duties for the night to spend time with her daughter. She would not be surprised if he sent them flowers, or some such gesture of gratitude. In fact, Tohr had been so happy as he'd kissed her before leaving that she was not working tonight, she was not certain he would not do the same.
She grinned now at the thought as she changed into the clothes that Mary and Bella had helped her buy when she had first come into the mansion, in a conspiracy with her now hellren to rob her of her beloved robes, so many months ago. She grinned at that, too, as she buttoned her jeans and pulled on a simple t-shirt.
After finishing getting ready, she left their mated rooms and headed downstairs to meet Xhex.

Waiting in the entertainment room, watching some silly show with Lassiter, she thought about not having been around much lately. She'd missed Autumn and since she'd had no plans, she'd thought to come over. Luckily, her mahmen had not been busy. Hearing Autumn's soft steps come into the room, she stood and smiled. "Hey, mahmen. Have any thoughts on what we should do tonight?"

Smiling, she nodded to Lassiter, and turned to Xhex. "Good eve, Xhex. Not really. We could sit in the courtyard, or if you like you can show me more of Caldwell? I promised Tohrment I would look for other occupations, but I doubt he will expect immediate results. He just wishes I would not do what I presently do, and I refuse to do nothing." Grinned.

She nodded and smiled. "I get that, I'm the same way. Though I agree with Tohr on this one, I don't like seeing you serving or working for the others, its just beneath you, like you are still punishing yourself. You deserve something that makes you happy and fulfilled." Turning toward the door, she waved to Lassiter and motioned for Autumn to go with her. "Let's go for a walk and maybe together we can figure out what you might like to do."

She grinned wryly. "You sound very much like him. As I have told him, it is noble work. I think I shall never be able to think of it as being 'below' me, as the two of you put it." Sighed, "But, while I do enjoy it, and it keeps me satisfyingly busy when others are at their respective occupations," she paused, a small frown as she thought, "I do suppose, in a small way, perhaps I am. But in truth, I know not what else there is for me to do. I had no skills before my death, and these are the only ones I've developed since, except for fighting, and whether Tohr would agree to that or not is irrelevant, as, while it is good to be able to defend myself should I need to, having a bad leg is not conducive to doing so for a living."

She looked at Autumn in surprise and then frowned. "And I think I would help him lock you in your room if you chose to fight. If that makes me a hypocrite than so be it. I think we could come up with something safer for you to do." They left the manse together and went to walk around the grounds. "Have you thought of helping Marissa at SafePlace? They could use someone to counsel them that has been a victim of abuse. You were with my...father for a short time and didn't know him, but still, you've lived through it." She'd stumbled over the word father, not really sure how to approach that with Autumn.

She chuckled at the response. "I can see the two of you will," paused, trying to remember the phrase, "gang up...on me? I have not even suggested it to Tohrment. Though I was pleasantly surprised, to say the least, when he suggested taking me on a motorcycle ride." Smiled softly as she remembered the night, then shook her head to return to the subject at hand. She became somewhat somber at the mention of her long ago experience and the one who sired Xhex. She glanced up as Xhex faltered on the word, then nodded. "I had not." She frowned, "Though, considering the path I chose, perhaps..." sighed, then shook her head. "I shall certainly consider it, however. It would be nice to be able to do some good for somebody."

She hated that she'd killed the light hearted mood and sighed. "Sorry, I don't like bringing that up as much as you don't like talking about it. I think you would be great there and I'm sure Marissa could use the help. Or if you wanted to work outside the family, you could work in the human world. You'd have to ask Butch or Mary, but I think they have hotlines for people in trouble or thinking of suicide."

She looked up at Xhex, then smiled. "Nonsense, you have naught to apologize for, daughter mine. Verily, it is not an easy subject, for either of us, but it will not get any easier if we avoided it altogether. It was relevant to your suggestion, and you were simply supporting your reasoning, and I shall take the suggestion to heart." She thought silently for a few steps, then nodded. "If I pursue it, I shall speak to Butch and Marissa together."
She looked at Xhex, thoughtfully for a moment. "I am curious. If you could do something else, what would you choose?"

"Huh, I don't think I've ever thought about it before." Walking side by side, with her hands clasped behind her back, she thought it over. After a few minutes, she looked over. "If I still had my fighting skills, I'd be teaching self-defense classes all the time. If not, I don't know what I would do, something quiet and solo."

Nodded, "I am not sure I can imagine you doing anything else, though I believe you could be good at anything you chose, if you truly wanted it. But you are very good at what you do, I can tell."

She chuckled. "Thank you, but you kind of have to be good at what you do when you do my job. If you're not, you get hurt. So, what ideally would you want to do?"

She raised a brow at Xhex. "Even the skilled, get hurt. Otherwise you would all come home uninjured. But I do see your point."
She thought as she walked, her hands joined together in front of her. "That is just it. In neither of my previous existences have I ever thought about doing other than what I did." Frowned, "Or if I did, it has long since been buried in the recesses of my mind. I am not sure I have ever had a choice before. As a daughter of the glymera, I was expected only to find a proper mate. And in the Fade, I was to serve those who dwelled in the Sanctuary, which suited me fine. And now, well," smiling at Xhex, "I am in altogether new territories."

She nodded as they started back around to the front of the house. "Understandable. Like you said, I see you helping people, but not serving them. I think you'd be great working with females or young, you have that nurturing way about you." She heard the Escalade pull in and smiled. "Must have been a successful patrol if they're back already. You're hellren is home, mahmen."

She was about to respond when they heard the low rumble of an engine, and she smiled as well. "Indeed he is." Relieved that he must be well, she looked up at Xhex. "I have enjoyed this, as always, daughter mine. And you have given me much to consider. Thank you, Xhexania." She smiled and hugged her daughter, wishing her well before meeting Tohrment at the door.
