Having spent the night with Jane in the Penthouse, he'd left her sleeping in a heap of black silk sheets, candle wax and chocolate everywhere. Though she may be a ghost, therefore not in need of nourishment, he? Wasn't and really preferred the food made at the Mansion to what the Commodore had to offer. Also? They needed a few things that were in their mated room. Leaving her a note wrapped around a black rose:

~Tonight? My turn. V~

He'd appeared back at the garage to the Main part of the Mansion. Through his security then down the halls, passed the TC and could have sworn he heard John pounding away on the treadmill. Huh, been a while since those thoughts, that particular rhythem of run, had filled any part of the Mansion. With what he and Xhex had doing? Shook his head to himself and kept on keeping on. Not his area, though that had him hoping not to run into Zee.

Opened the door to the kitchen and came to a dead stop, a grin threatening to lift his lips.

"Selena." Nodded then glanced at all the open cabernets as well as the fridge and back. "Should I even ask?"

The answer to that one came with a loud poping sound then Layla peeking around a corner where he was pretty sure the bay of microwaves were. Managing a straight face, even if he had to cover his mouth with his gloved hand, waited.

Having woken before the shutters went up, I dressed quickly in jeans, t-shirt and running shoes then went to get Layla. She was just getting dressed and I told her. "Well Sister as long as we are in the Mansion, I'm going to go make those blueberry muffins Phillipa taught me. When you're ready come on down."

Heading to the kitchen I was surprised to find myself alone. Not a doggen or Fritz in sight. I smiled thinking 'Oh yes, cooking alone' and began puttling open all the cabinets to find what I needed. I put on the coffee, simple enough and went for the blueberries in the freezer.

In the pantry I gathered the flour, sugar and all the makings for the muffins and placed them on the counter. Finding the bowls and baking pans finally, I had just about everything. Opening the refrigerator I grabbed the eggs and milk, when I heard a voice at the door. I jumped.

"Ummm ... oh... ummm... hello Vishous. I'm making blueberry muffins and eggs," in answer to his question.

Layla made it downstairs and was just heating water in the microwave for her tea as she too peeked in at V.

Well, he thought glancing around and not seeing either Phury or a doggen in sight, this should be interesting. Crossing the room, took out a handroll just to have between his fingers, the 'No Smoking' in the kitchen rule a tad inconvenient at this moment. Took a seat at the big table built into one corner where the entire kitchen could be seen. Stretching out his legs, elbows on the wood amused look on his face.

"No need to stop on my account. In fact? Think I'll kick it for a few and watch." Small smirk, then rested his chin in his good hand.

Really, had no idea if the Chosen could cook but had heard stories and all of them were quiet entertaining. First hand view was a rare thing for him.

Watching as Vishous decided to join us, though he didn't make me nervous any longer, I think Layla is still a bit afraid of him. It crossed my mind that I wasn't afraid or him or Rehvenge as most of the females were, not sure if I understand why though.

"Would you like some coffee Vishous?" Going to the pot, I pour myself and him a cup and brought his over. Maybe the coffee would may do for the fact that he couldn't smoke.

Going back to the bowls on the counter, I began throwing the ingredients together as the oven preheated. Getting flour on myself, the counter and the floor, I peeked at the amused look on his face as I stirred the ingredients together.

Accepted the coffee with a 'Thank you' then took a drink, surprisingly not bad at all. Beginning to think the rumors weren't true at all, Selana and Layla had yet to break or blow anything up. Feeling it safe to actually drink the beverage, relaxed back.

"So, how did you enjoy New Orleans. From what I gathered on the flight back you got a bit more than you bargained for. True?" Half smiled when she turned, motioning to his nose as there was flour there.

Glanced over at Layla, whom was always ultra quiet around him, passing thought that he'd never live down the days before Jane with any of the Chosen. Though Selena seemed relatively comfortable around him, Layla had done the bow and 'Sire' thing he hated so much but never commented on.

As Layla say quietly at the far end of the table, as far as possible away from V, I was a bit more comfortable as he pointed to his nose about the flour. I grabbed a dish towel and wiped the flour away, smiling shyly at my faux pas.

"Did I forget to thank you for coming to pick us up? If I did let me thank you now. It was a very nice trip at first, but then the Lessers coming after the Hunters and us at Sanctuary was a bit unnerving. Is there anywhere we can go and not be attacked? I'm guessing Phury will lock us all away and we'll never get to see anything more of other places."

Pouring the batter into the pans, I put them in the oven and took my coffee to the table. Sitting down, I squeezed Layla hand to make her feel more comfortable.

Was, at this point, blocking Layla's thoughts out, did they all have to have such long memories? Sure he'd been somewhat of a lit match next to a gasoline can in the past, but again, that was the past. Keeping his focus on Selena, went for unaffected by what she'd just said, even if it burned him up that even on vacation they had come across danger.

"Not a prob. So," paused, glancing between the two of them then landing his diamond gaze back on Selena "why would Phury be locking you up? From the reports I read had you and the other females not been there Sanctuary would have been grossly outnumbered. Though Phury's reports haven't come in so I may be missing something."

The kitchen was already starting to actually smell good, which surprised him. Now he was truly thinking all the rumors about the Chosen and kitchens not being a great mix to be untrue.

Feeling a bit bad that Layla was not entering into the conversation, I let her stare into her tea as Vishous and I talked. The muffins were beginning to smell good, but getting carried away in conversation, I forgot to put the timer on the oven.

"Yes the Shellans did a marvelous job in the fighting. Layla and I, on the other hand stayed out of the fray. I didn't want to leave Layla alone and thought, even though we had had self defense training, we were so sheltered all our lives, that I'd be more of a hindrance, than a help. I just wish that there was a way to have more of a hands on, than mere training without actually being in an all out fight. But, I guess, you have to just jump in. Cormia stayed out of the fray as well, so Phury not seeing us in action may believe we are not ready."

Jumping up, I ran to the oven. Pulling the door open, just in time, a bit of smoke emerged. I fanned at it with my oven mitt and took the muffins out. They were a little bit over browned but not a total loss thankfully. I'd have died if I have blown up the oven.

Raised a brow as she moved quickly over to the oven, though no harm no foul there so stayed in place. Hell he'd done much worse just getting a sandwich, so the doggen would see smoke, possibly. No big. Though while she was talking he caught something from Layla by accident that he couldn't ask her about. Again, addressing Selena, damn he was starting to wish it was possible to wipe memories of Vampires long term.

"Well there's that, and maybe the fact that seems there may have been some confusion before the actual fight?" In his periferial could see Layla tense so he went back to casually lounging about.

Dumping the hot muffins in a basket, it dawned on me as I looked around that all the cabinet doors were still open. Flushing, I began shutting them gently, hoping the closing didn't make much noise and the doggen or more importantly, Fritz didn't rush into the kitchen and have a heart attack. At least I had Vishous and Layla there with me, though Layla would crawl under the table.

Rinsing the bowls and cleaning up my mess quickly, I put everything into the dishwasher. Taking the butter from the refrigerator and getting some knives plates, I brought them and the basket of muffins to the table, wondering if Vishous would eb brave enough to taste them.

"Would you like more coffee?" I asked and didn't wait for an answer as I refilled our cups, replaced the pot and went to sit down. Taking a muffin from the basket, I slathered it in butter and took a bite.

"How is Doc Jane? Being out at Grand Camp, we rarely ever get to see her. Perhaps I should call her and maybe we could have lunch. I wonder that she works too hard."

Bit his lip, seemed there were some things he shouldn't ask about? Fine, but her super fast motion cleanup of the kitchen then subject change were telling enough. Grinning, went ahead and drank more coffee, part of him wanting Kaluah for it just cause, than took a bite of the muffin. Holding it, chewed as if he was thinking about how it tasted rather than if he should revisit that last inquiry.

"Not bad Selena, actually pretty good cooking." Set it down as well as the coffee and put his hands behind his head, the look on his face still humored. "Jane is good, she does work a lot. In fact, your question about going somewhere just to go is a good one. Maybe I'll ask Tohrment if we can't plan some kind of vacation. I'd have to ask, though, would we be worrying about loosing all of you in the meantime no matter where that vacation was?" Held back a chuckle by picking the muffin back up and taking another bite.

Realizing I'd completely skipped over V's question, I had to think before deciding to answer, afraid that he would think me flitty for jumping from subject to subject.

"There was quite a bit of confusion, especially as the fighting started. All the noise and screaming, something we're not use to, I think scared us at first," looking over at Layla who seemed to make herself very small as if not there with us at all.

Smiling that he liked my muffins, I breathed a sigh, "we would love to go somewhere else and we didn't get lost in the French Quarter, Phury and Lass did. We had a perfectly good meal and don't know exactly what happened to them."

"Do you really thing Tohrment would consider letting us go on another trip? Possibly somewhere in the Old Country since the Lessers seem to be everywhere here."

Had started outright laughing at her explanation of the 'confusion' in the French Quarter, actually finding that more believable than what Phury would surly report. That lasted a good minute, Layla even seeming to relax as he did then abruptly sobered at her next inquiry.

"The.. Old Country." Held eye contact long enough to see her shadow being cast behind her. Damn that struck a nerve for him, closed his eyes, thumb and forefinger on his brow. "Ah, not sure how some of us" thought 'Me' "would feel about that. Why not somewhere there's a beach or some other culture to explore like Japan. I'd think with all the history we already know" most of which he'd really like to forget "learning something new would be better. True?"

Fine, no damn way did he ever want to go anywhere near where he'd been in the Bloodletters Camp. Also had some shit memories pretty much all over the Northern European continent so, yeah, he'd gun for anywhere else.

Looking at the stricken look of Vishous at the mention of the Old Country, I wanted to fade into the shadow on the floor. My brain to mouth filter obviously not in working order, as usual.

"Please pardon my outburst, it was unkind of me to remind you of that which you would so want to forget." I paled at the thought of what I had done, surely wounding him to the quick.

Wanting desperately to correct and vindicate myself, I tried smiling, leaning against the counter.

"A beach or Japan would be just as nice, though I don't know of any place where the night life we would need could be as excited as New Orleans was. Are there other places like that? As we surely would need quite warm water for beach swimming at night."

Still internally composing himself, there was that one part of him that knew it was selfish to keep everyone else back due to his own personal crap. Hell Tohrment was aware of what he'd been doing for money when he and Darius came across him in Russia, no one else did though. He'd already decided 'The Old Country' could mean a bunch of mental bullshit resurfacing or possibly none at all. Though, in all likelihood if the Bastards were here, that meant there were still Vamps alive and well there. Finally fully composed, was able to stand.

"Not sure, your probably correct. How about I ask Tohrment next time we all meet and see. True?" Nodding to Layla then Selena. "Hate to eat and run, and these weren't bad muffins by the way, but I've got some work of my own to do. Ladies, appreciate the company, Layla? Maybe someday you won't feel the need to be so reserved around me. Change is possible, true. Have a good one you two and try to keep it cool till Phury gets back." Already around the table, glanced back and winked "Or don't, after all you are as much a part of things around here as anyone else."

Took one more muffin for the 'road', showing appreciation for food made by a females hands then exited out the far door. Having received a text from Jane during that time saying she was going to her office to complete some research. Since that meant the time at the Penthouse would be on hold for at least the day, shutters having come down whilst they spoke as well, he wanted to get started on a project down in the Forge. Luckily, the entrance to that was under the Grand Staircase then through the bowels of the heating furnaces of the Mansion.

Sent Jane a text back letting her know where he'd be should she come up for air from brain work.

Smiling that my muffins weren't a debaucle, I was glad that Vishous was going to speak to Tohrment about another trip. I just got back and can hardly wait for the next time. I had never dreamed that coming to this side could result in so many new, different and exciting adventures. So much still to learn and to do, being Immortal did have it's advantages.

Cleaning up all the dishes and cups from our eating and drinking, I slipped everything into the dishwasher and put everything back away in the pantry and refrigerator.

Layla was still quiet after finishing her tea though she smiled at me after Vishous left, considerably less nervous. "Come on Layla let's go see what we can find in the library."

Unable to resist, I got more coffee and took a couple of muffins with me for a snack later and we left and went into the library to find a book while waiting for Phury, Cormia and Aggie to get back.
