The shutters had gone down for the day and Zsadists still hadn't returned to their mated room. He had not been scheduled for patrol the night before. First meal he had ate in near silence and had disappeared down to the TC right after just as quietly.
Growing concerned, she headed down the hall of statues, then the stairs and finally down into the tunnel that led to the TC. It was quiet and all that could be heard was the sounds of the heat blowing through the ventilation system and her heels on the tiled floor. There were no voices or sounds of fists hitting hitting the leather of the speed or heavy bag. Just silence.

As she reached the gym, she stepped just inside and saw her hellren, sitting there in a folding chair along the side wall. One arm, towel in hand, draped over a knee as he ran his hand over his skull trim with the other. Her gaze traveled over his muscles as they flexed with the movement. The sweat glistening there, a sign he had been working out. But something was wrong. She could feel it through the blood bond they shared. "Is everything alright?"
He glanced over then let out a frustrated breath as he pushed to stand. Tossing the towel aside, he walked over. "Yeah, everything's fine." Placing a hand on her hip, he leaned down to kiss her before heading toward the doors to the gym. The kiss was meant to reassure her there was nothing wrong, but did little to do so. The fact that he averted his gaze so she couldn't see his eyes, told her more than his words did. All she could do was stand there as her concern grew.
"Are you coming up to bed?" She looked over to see he had paused by the doors but didn't look back toward her. She wanted to push for him to tell her what was bothering him but knew, sometimes he needed to work things out for himself. There were some things he wouldn't or couldn't tell her. For now, she'd leave it be in hopes it would pass.
"Yes." She turned and walked over to join him before they walked together in silence back to their mated room.
