It was silent except for the occasional rustle of clothing. Keeping her eyes closed, she tried to feel out with her Sympath side, but nothing happened. Trying again, she didn't think the issues were with the remaining tranquilizer in her system. The bastard must have jammers blocking her from using those abilities. Can you say paranoid? Opening her eyes, she looked around, noticing that she was on the hard floor, but not where she had fallen. Autumn and the other female must have moved her. Sitting up, she looked to where her mahmen sat, not far from her. "How long have I been out?"

She flinched, having started to drift off, then blinked and turned to her, letting out a relieved breath as she saw her daughter upright and awake. "All night and day. And, most of the night again. Apparently he works as a veterinarian of some sort. Oh, I'm so glad you're awake. How are you feeling?"
Calixta stopped her nervous pacing and came over as well, kneeling to look at her. "I-I-I..I'm s-s-s-so sorry..." her eyes filling with tears.

She winced at how long she'd been out and then got uncomfortable with the female's tears. "Tis not your fault, female. He's not the first asshole to take me down and he probably won't be the last." She put a hand to her head, still a little dizzy and very disoriented from not being able to use her Sympath senses. She looked to Autumn. "Has he hurt you? Did he knock you out with enough tranquilizer to put down an elephant as well?"

She carefully crossed her arms, the ends of her sleeves pulled to her palms, and shook her head with a small chuckle at the last part. "No, he did not tranq me. I am well." Gave a small smile, then sighed.
She looked at Calixta. "My daughter is right, this is not your fault. So please, I pray thou wouldst be at ease about this."
Calixta sat back on her heels and looked between them, frowning, confused. Autumn noticed she kept her hair down around her face, and was careful to only lift her head high enough to look at them, though as usual, she did not make eye contact for very long. She was one of the more difficult cases. She bit her lip, then winced and released it before asking quietly, "Why did you come here?"
Not knowing how much the female had told her hellren, she kept her voice low as well. "When you did not show up for your appointment and did not call, I---"
"Rhudd wouldn't let me," she interrupted, nervously. "I'm sorry, please don't be mad, but he wouldn't let me go anywhere or even answer the phone, I..."
Autumn shook her head and started to reach out to place a hand on her shoulder, but the female flinched away. "No, please, you misunderstand. I was concerned about you." The female looked confused again. "I was worried something had...happened to you, I wanted to make sure you were, well. In no danger. And I see my fears were not misplaced?" Calixta dropped her gaze again.

Snorting, she rubbed her stiff neck. "No kidding." Seeing the look on both their faces, she sighed. "Sorry, but I don't exactly like being tranqued. Makes me cranky." She looked around the darkened room and then back at Autumn. Her movements to keep areas covered or her winces, hadn't gone unnoticed, but she'd worry about that later. That asshole wouldn't be touching her mahmen again, that was for sure. "Alright, let's focus on getting the hell out of here." She looked at Calixta. "Are we locked in this room?" The female nodded. "Okay, what kind of lock is it? A standard bedroom lock or something more sturdy?"
"There are two deadbolts and the door is steel reinforced." Calixta looked nervously at said door.
"Well, he is a bit paranoid then isn't he?" Thinking, she shook her head. "Okay, looks like we're not going anywhere for awhile. Dematting is out and I can't even tell if Rhudd is in the house or what kind of mood he is in as my Sympath side is blocked."
Looking back at Autumn, she smiled grimly. "At least our hellren's are looking for us by now and it shouldn't take them too long to figure out where we are. So another day or so and we should be getting out of here."

She nodded, and Calixta frowned. "Will they be very angry with you?"
Autumn smiled, "Yes, but worry not. It will not be of your hellren's extent." She made another attempt to reach out to Calixta, slower this time, more gently, and took her hand. "I know it has not been your experience, but you must know...not all males are like him." Glancing to the door and back, then placed her free hand on Xhex's shoulder. "Ours are a testament to that. Some are truly males of worth. They seek to protect and care, not control and harm."
Calixta looked at them, "Do...do such males truly still exist?" She looked to the floor, then glancing at the door again and waiting for a few silent moments, turned back and reached under the bed, pulling out a wooden box. Unlocking and opening it, she took out a picture, then slid the box under the bed again quickly, before showing them the photo. Two men, a woman, and what looked like Calixta, but obviously many years ago.
"My sire, my mahmen, and my older brother. All of worth." She sighed and stared at the picture. "We all thought Rhudd was perfect. They were more than happy to see us mated." She continued even quieter than before. "But once we were...I never saw or heard from my family again. Rhudd wouldn't allow it, wouldn't let me contact them. I've tried, when I could, but..." shrugged. "They seem to have moved as well."

She examined the photo. They had looked like a happy family. Meeting Calixta's eyes, she nodded. "True males of worth do exist, we're mated to them. And they are of the Brotherhood. If anyone can find your family, it'll be Vishous. When we get you out of here, he'll search for them and you'll be reunited again." Tilting her head, she thought back to both Autumn's past and her own. "You, nor your family, are at fault for what has happened to you. True evil isn't obvious, it hides behind the mask of honor and worth. But it is a mask all the same."

She glanced at Xhex, at those last words, and struggled for a moment to maintain composure. How many times had she thought, if she had done things differently? If she had been less self-consumed. How many times had she imagined, dreamed, that she had gone down with her family, and stayed safe with them?
But she collected herself again quickly and nodded. "If not you, it might just as well have been some other female. And one weaker, who would not have made it this long. And you will make it longer still. As my daughter has said, our hellrens will find us soon." She pressed the female's hand, gently. "And when they do, you will come with us."
Fear became a mask all of its own as it spread across the female's face and she shook her head. "No....I can never leave! He'll find me! He'll--!!!"
Autumn shook her head and shushed her. "We will take you out of this, and your hellren will never be allowed to come near you again, trust us on that. That will be seen to."

She narrowed her eyes. "He caught me by surprise once, it won't happen again. Trust me when I say, by the time my step-sire is done with Rhudd, the only thing he'll be interested in is learning to walk and eat again." She frowned. "I'll be lucky if I even get one shot in." Sharing an amused look with Autumn, she shook her head. "Oh, the things we do for our males."

She grinned, and looking over at Calixta, saw her blink in bewilderment, and something akin to admiration.
Smiling proudly, she said, "Xhex is a warrioress." She waited until Calixta looked at her, then added, "And when," putting a pointed emphasis on the word, "we are free again, she can teach you to---no..." she paused, then, deciding that was inaccurate, lifted her chin and rephrased. "she can show you, how strong you truly are." She smiled at Xhex. "My daughter is extremely good at what she does."

Shrugging, she smiled. "I like to think so. I'm teaching self defense classes at Safe Place now. We just started, but its already making a difference with the females we have in residence. Like mahmen said, we show you how strong you are. Physically and emotionally." She looked around the room. "Okay, back to our current situation. I need food, the tranqs are still in my system and making me foggy. Has our host dropped anything off recently?

"Oh, yes." Autumn turned and picked up a modest serving tray from the small table behind her and placed it between them. "Calixta was able to talk him into leaving enough for the two of us when he brought hers. We have already eaten, but we saved some for you." There were two sandwiches and apples, and a bottle of water.

Relieved, she took the tray. "Thanks for that. A whole day with no food and then the tranquilizer, I'm not quite on my game yet." She ate quickly, drinking about half of the water. "We'll save this for a little bit, just in case. Do either of you know if Rhudd is here or where he might be?"

Autumn looked at Calixta, who asked if they had the time, then nodded. "He's at work. The animal hospital at the edge of Caldwell, on Edgar Avenue. He should be back in an hour or so."
Pointing to the tray, Autumn added, "He brought that at midnight."
Calixta nodded again. "His lunch hour."

She nodded and leaned back against the wall. "We should get some rest while he's working. I'm sure we'll hear him when he tries to get in that door. But if you would like, I can keep watch for a bit and we can switch off in a couple hours."

Sighing, she nodded. "I am quite tired." She looked at Calixta, seeing the lines under her eyes. "When was the last time you slept?"
Calixta hesitated, and once again, avoided their eyes. "I sleep. Sometimes." A glance, then looked away again. "A little."
Autumn exchanged glances with Xhex, then looked at Calixta again. "You will sleep now. I will take the next shift, and we will make sure you are safe, worry not."
Reluctantly, Calixta went back to her chair, and as she curled up in its cushioned enbrace, she seemed to relax a little more, pulling a blanket over herself and closing her eyes as she yawned, then murmured a soft, "Good day."
Autumn smiled sadly, then yawned and leaned against the wall as well, her eyes suddenly becoming heavy again. She placed her hand over Xhex's and squeezed it. "Good day, daughter mine."
