She had made a quick stop as Tohr finished loading their things into the automobile, hers, as predicted, being fairly minimal.
But while Tohr spoke in jest of letting Fritz find out for himself, she had sat down to write a note to him just the same. She had been thoughtless enough to the old doggen when he had served in her father's household, as well as to the others to attended her, and deep down she knew she owed it to him.
Finishing and sealing it, she smiled again as she scrawled the kindly male's name across the front, in the Old Language, and thought of Darius' obvious kindness to the male. Though she knew not the when's and wherefore's of the change in employers, she was glad for it, especially as Fritz was clearly happy with where he was. But still, she wondered. Lest she had forgotten---and in those days, even after the rescue, she was much absorbed with herself, and when not upon herself, her attention had been focused on the young pretrans who accompanied the Brother Darius and was nothing like her deceased captor, so it was in entirely possible, she supposed, that the detail had somehow slipped her mind---Fritzgelder had not come with the other two males when they left her father's house in defeat, having failed to return her unto her parents.
That part of the memory causing her good mood to falter, she shook it away for another time. Mayhap in the far future. The far, far, far future. She would return to it.
As for her ponderings...it occurred to her that her parents were another area she had paid little visit to, 'post-mortem', when peering into the bowls of crystal clear water. She know not what had become of them, and wondered that now. How had they fared? Had Darius convinced Fritz to leave the House of Sampsone and join his? Or had he taken the butler in after her parents had...dearest Scribe, how much time had it been since their passing?
Sighing, she had soon been snapped out of her thoughts by an eager Tohrment, coming in to their mated rooms for the final time before their departure, and letting them fall back to the recesses of her mind, had smiled, kissing him before leaving the room with him. One stop, making sure she left the note where Fritz would find it before First Meal, and then she had met Tohrment in the foyer and they were soon gone.
Now, they were pulling up to a lovely house, and as they got out and he led her around, almost all of her senses were fed. The lack of city lights mean that not only did she see the moon as its light fell o'er their surroundings, but the stars, twinkling in delight to see her again. The lack of city sounds meant that not only did she hear the wind rustling through the leaves and branches of the forest, but she heard the river Tohment had mentioned before she saw it. And as she felt the air caressing her fingertips, the leaves crunching underfoot, the lack of exhaust fumes and other odors that lingered through the city meant that she could even smell those leaves of that forest. She could smell the winter as she had in her first life, and in a way she couldn't quite mange in the city.
The only sense that this environment alone did not touch was taste, but that was soon taken care of by her hellren as he turned to her, pulled her close and kissed her deep. When the kiss was finally broken, and she opened her eyes, she smiled wide to find his staring into them. And thought, she could quite definitely get used to this, even if only for a short time.
