She found Autumn in the garden and smiled as she walked over to her. "An eventful week. I'm glad things are getting back to normal." She liked the garden at night, the smells and sounds of summer, the coolness after the heat of the day. It was a good place to unwind.

She smiled, looking up at her daughter's voice. "Eventful is a word for it. And I am very glad, as well." Tohr had had business with the King, so she had come here for something a little more peaceful than the busy workings of the house or Safe Place. "It had been a little too long since I have sat here."

Sitting next to Autumn, she looked out at the flowers. "I know I fought against Tohr and what he wanted to do this last week. I'm sorry if it caused him any additional stress. I just..." She sighed and looked to Autumn. "I just have zero respect for most of the glymera members and their antiquated rules. I hate how they make people feel and the lengths they are willing to go to just to maintain their reputation. I won't lie, what I said when Tohr announced his plan was true. I blame the glymera and their rules for what happened to you. I don't blame you at all, they'd conditioned you to think you were nothing after having a child out of wedlock with a sympath no less. I can't blame you."

With a slightly watery smile, she reached over and squeezed Xhex's hand. "That is good to hear. That is...very good to hear." She squeezed again and looked around. "Tohr meant well. I...was not in a good place when he and I first met. But from what I remember, he was none too fond of that side of the glymera either. I will not pretend to speak for his mind in bringing that male and female here, but I will tell you this, he regretted it early on."
She glanced over and grinned. "In fact, 'twas about the time he saw me wearing my cowled robe that he started seeing the error in his decision." Looked away thoughtfully, "I believe his words were, 'Now. Now I see the problem with my plan.'" Chuckled. Then looked over at her daughter again. "And I meant what I said to them. I was proud of the way you compromised, but also of the way you stood up to them."

She smiled, trying not to get teary eyed either. "I'm torn. I'm glad that he saw what the rest of us did, but also proud that he stuck it out anyway and then led us in change. Small changes, we can do that, praying more can't hurt any, right? That's what he was going for the whole time, isn't it? I get why he did it. Maybe I didn't see it until it was all over, but now I do. We've let our lives start to revolve around fighting and our relationships and have forgotten who we are in the big picture."

She smiled and nodded. "There were traditions that I was glad, upon my return, to find had not survived time. Some of which should never have been at all."
Paused and smiled softly, "But there are others which were and are worth keeping, that are not about degrading the individual, but bonding the pair, connecting the whole. There are ways, traditionally, in which we differ from the humans and other races that still hold value, and those are what he thought to bring back. As well as our stories. We have a rich history full of heroes as well as villains, of bravery and courage, as well as cowardice and greed. He feared they were being lost, that future generations would forget, or never learn, where we have come from, and good or bad, that is a history worth learning. He thought this would be a step toward preventing that. But, I think he will not try this method again, after those two."

She nodded. "I understand that. My adoptive parents were not of the glymera, so they didn't have those traditions that put people down. They embraced the race and honored those traditions that I think Tohrment was trying to remind us of. Maybe he doesn't have to abandon it completely. Perhaps he could invite a mated couple not of the glymera, one poorer and so valuing image and monetary worth less. Or maybe the Chosen who've documented our traditions and the history of the race could help. Tohr would remind us of the worth and strength of our race while not alienating us all."

She smiled at her and nodded back. "I think he would very much like that idea. You should should suggest it to him, sometime. I think at this point he would be very open to hearing anybody out." Meeting her eyes, smiled softly, "And he would be glad to see that others have an interest in the cause, especially the younger generations. After all, in the end, 'twill always be up to the young to keep them going, keep those who came before alive when they have passed. And that is where his worries lie."

She smiled and nodded. "I will suggest it to him. I do owe him an apology as well, but what are daughters for if not giving their fathers a hard time? Though, I have to admit, I did kind of enjoy our verbal sparring and trying to get under his skin." She squeezed her hand and then stood. "Thank you for the talk, mahmen. Now I have a promise to the Scribe Virgin to uphold." She smiled and then headed for the chapel, already planning what she would pray for.
