Jane finished up putting in her supply order for the week in the computer, she got it done at the beginning of her shift because she never knew what was going to happen during the rest of the night, and God forbid one of the Brothers or warriors got hurt, then all hell could break loose. Plus she was now training Selena. Tonight she was also cross training Selena on how to place the weekly order with her, so that she could help with that as well.
"I know this isn't the most glamourous part of the job, but tonight I figured I'd take you with me on the job to see what I do, and train you on what you would be doing to assist the doctor's or nurse's as the shift went on. The supplies are all listed on this order form and once you inventory them, you put them in this online order form. Then Vishous will order the supplies for us every week." Jane explained.

Selena had finished half the book now for medical terminology. She was really excited about what she was learning. Tonight though Doc Jane was gonna walk her through the everyday duties. They were just as important as the actual medical part. She pulled on some jeans and a tank top with running shoes and went through the tunnels to the Clinic.
Selena walked in and said hello to Doc Jane. "Hello, what are we doing tonight?" She listened as Doc Jane explained what they were going to do an how important it was. She followed Doc Jane to the supply cabinets and looked down at the inventory sheet. "Alright. Are they supplies in a specific order to match the inventory sheet?"

Jane stood with Selena in front of the cabinets and drawers. She opened everything up so she could point everything out to her. "Yes, we keep everything in their specific place. Bandages, tape, gauze all go in this cabinet here. Syringes and needles all go into another cabinet. Then Basins, cups, emesis basins all in another cabinet. Everything goes into it's own cabinet. We keep oxygen and suction equipment in a special cart which I'll show you. And then we have an emergency cart with medications and other emergency equipment in that red cart in the emergency bay that I'll show you."
"But we have these cabinets that I'm showing you here in 3 different bays. So all 3 of them should be stocked with the same equipment. The emergency bay has more trauma related equipment for severe cases that we have, when one of them gets hurt badly, which I hate to ever have to use."

Selena followed Doc Jane around to each cabinet and drawer familiarizing herself with what went where. She followed along on the inventory sheet to get the idea. There were also things she wasn't familiar with yet like the emesis basin but she remembered the word from the book. It meant for spitting up, whether it be vomit, blood or just phlegm.
Once she was shown the cabinets, they walked over to the different bays and went over what was in each one. Selena hoped she would have most of the names straight before it ever came time for an emergency.
"I sure hope no one gets injured." She knew that was impossible considering what the Brotherhood did.

As Jane went along, she wanted to be sure she gave Selena some time saving tricks to remember, but she also knew the best people to go to for those would be the Nurses. Nurses always had the best short cuts for things, not always the best short cuts, but some of them worked well. "I wanted to tell you, the nurses are your best source of information around here. They will probably give you all of the best shortcuts to doing things, but I always suggest learning the right way first. That way, you know if the short cut is going to cause problems or not."
"Here's handy hint number one. Those emesis basins? If one of those males is going to vomit? They are far too small to use. Grab a bath bucket, they are huge and will be less of a mess for you to clean up, otherwise they will miss everytime." Jane chuckled.
"Okay, emergency bay, let's just take a look at what's around here."

Selena couldn't help but laugh as Doc Jane told her about the quick tips especially about the emesis basin. "It does look really small. I'd think to use it only for a young." She looked at the size of the bath bucket and the trash can. They both looked capable for the job if needed.
Selena followed Doc Jane over to the emergency bay and looked over her shoulder as she described what was there.

"And last but not least, the emergency bay. Tomorrow we'll go over the operating room, that's a whole seperate entity onto itself. But the emergency bay has hookups in the wall here for oxygen and air. They are maintained of course by Vishous who checks them out either weekly or after we use them to make sure we have enough oxygen supply. We have this cart here full of masks and tubing and suction equipment and then another cart loaded with emergency supplies. As you can see there is a separate list for supplies that a nurse is responsible for checking daily, and that's because we have drugs in there, including narcotics. I wouldn't have you checking that because they need to sign off that the drugs are there. Plus it's locked and it's sealed and has to be resealed daily." Jane finished up with the tour of the clinic and what needed to be checked on.
"Do you have any questions for me about any of this stuff? You'll be doing this with a nurse until you get used to it." Jane explained.

Selena followed Doc Jane to the emergency bay and took note of the oxygen and air receptacles in the wall itself before going through the cart there. Then she was told about the meds and narcotics. "I'm glad I don't do that I'd hate to make a mistake there."
She looked at the separate list and followed along. "No questions, everything is pretty self explanatory. When will Ehlena be back? And if Ehlena is gone and you're busy, how many other nurses are there to help me?"

Jane walked with Selena back up to the Nurse's desk where she poured herself a cup of coffee. Then offered Selena one and handed her a copy of her schedule.
"Ehlena should be back some time next week? And if she's not here, we have a charge nurse and another nurse working with her at all times. Then there is always a doc on staff at all times as well. if there is a major emergency, then the other doc will get paged and come in right away to help out, same with nurses. We make sure we are fully staffed in case the worst happens. So, if that's all, you be sure to keep studying and if you have any questions about what you are reading? Don't be afraid to call me anytime. Just ask." Jane smiled at Selena and wrote down her cell number.
